Why has my silver ring turned black, left a green mark on my finger?"

Accepted Answer

Silver like copper and bronze, will oxidize over time. This is a chemical process that is triggered by skin oils and also just the atmosphere, especially in damp weather.
 
Also known as a patina, some jewellers will use this process (with the aid of specific chemicals) to create a surface colouring as a decorative effect.
 
There are cleaning pastes/solutions for removing this oxidation, which you can buy at the supermarket for polishing specific metals, ie silver polish. There are also jewellery cleaning solutions that work best for gold jewellery.

How long does it take for made-to-order items to be made?

Accepted Answer

Generally allow 8-10 days for designs listed as IN STOCK. The IN STOCK listing enables ordering of the variations of a design that are not actually held as stock and will be Made-To-Order. If something is being made as a commission piece allow 6-8 weeks. These times are estimations and will depend on work flows. Usually it will be the shorter time frame but if you have any questions about shipping for a special occasion please email me.

What if the item I receive is different from the picture on your website?

Accepted Answer

The website images of my work aim to give as much information as possible about each design. That's why I like to have images of my work on models to give an idea of scale and how things sit on the body.
 
Being hand made and not mass produced, there will be slight variations each time a design is made, but the overall look of the piece should look as the images display.
 
I ask that you read the descriptions of each piece which also gives measured dimensions and any notes on ear wires, metal sensitivities, overall weight, and anything pertinent to that design.
